Mercedes-Benz India Launches C-Class & S-Class Cabriolets; Another Launch Expected

Fulfilling the promise made to its legion of Indian fans, the luxury car maker, Mercedes-Benz, has launched its 10th and 11th cars in a row. Mercedes-Benz C-Class and S-Class Cabriolets are now available in the Indian market at base prices of Rs. 60 lakh and Rs. 2.25 crores, respectively. C300 and S500 add more numbers to the other topless beauties by Mercedes-Benz in India, making the already highest number a bit higher.

We hope you are aware that Mercedes has the largest range of convertibles in India and have already sold an astounding figure of 9,924 units this year. One more launch is expected by this premium German carmaker before the year comes to an end.

The recently launched Mercedes-Benz C300 Cabriolet is one of the smallest convertibles in its segment; though not in literal sense. The convertible has adopted its design cues from its sedan counterpart but with a few changes, of course. These changes include:

  • Fabric roof
  • Slightly changed front and rear end
  • And, the missing two rear doors, of course

The fabric roof can fold down within 20 seconds when driving at a speed of up to 50kmph. The transmission is provided by a 9-speed 9G-Tronic gearbox mated to a turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-litre engine. The oil burner is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 241bhp and can achieve a peak torque of 370Nm. The topless beauty can sprint to 100kmph from a standstill in 6.4 seconds by attaining a top speed of 250kmph.

The vehicle comes with plenty of customization options beside the optional equipment to make the deal best in class.

Mercedes-Benz S500 Cabriolet, on the other side, topped the chart in terms of luxury options available. The power of this beast is delineated by a commanding V8 Bi-turbo 4.7-litre motor that delivers 443bhp and 700Nm of peak power and torque. As far as the speed is concerned, the luxurious convertible can do a 0-100kmph sprint in mere 4.6 seconds with a maximum speed of 250kmph. The motor is mated to a 9-speed 9G-Tronic tranny.

Akin to its recently launched sibling, S500 too can fold down the roof in 20 seconds at a speed of up to 50kmph. To be available in 9 color options for exterior alongside the 4 color options in fabric roof, the topnotch S500 Cabriolet carries the design cues from its namesake, S-Class Coupe. It is the sixth S-Class model launched in India.
