The German automakers have established their names in the market quite well be it Audi, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes or to a lesser extent Volkswagen. The luxury car market is dominated by their presence and not to forget the healthy and passionate competition these counterparts have given to each other. Among these celebrated names, BMW has recently completed its successful 100 years of journey in this race for the BEST, and showing the spirit of rivalry in the pink, Mercedes and Porsche have wished BMW a very happy birthday in their own classy style, which is unique in every manner.
Well, what appeals the most in the ads was the emphasis on the iconic signature kidney grille of BMW, thus giving the automaker a competitive appreciation in their own way. Where on one hand, Mercedes uploaded a 15 seconds video on its official Twitter handle congratulating BMW for the healthy competition it has provided to the former for almost a century, Porsche, on the other hand, showed its gratitude by featuring or better to say comparing BMW's electric production car, the i8, to its electric supercar concept, the Mission E.
On the 7th of March, 2016, the luxury carmaker, BMW, jubilated its 100th Birthday with a bash by introducing a concept named VISION NEXT 100 wherein the company has tried to project how the Ultimate Driving Machine will look like in the year 2116. This turned out to be a complete surprise for the car enthusiasts who were expecting the unveiling of a retro-styled concept car as the homage to such a long journey by the luxury car manufacturer.
The marque is also celebrating a week-long festival that will witness variety of driving and social events.
On the very day, Mercedes uploaded a video celebrating the 100 years of healthy relationship without shying away from taking a jibe on the occasion. The message in the Mercedes video, with the background tune of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow", goes:
"Thank you for 100 years of competition" followed by "The previous 30 years were actually a bit boring."
Where Mercedes has thanked BMW with the message for being a healthy rival at one end, it has also showed its seniority in the competition, on the other hand, by stating that Mercedes is 30 years elder than BMW. Not to forget that Mercedes has been into the race of super luxury cars since 1886.
Also, the folks at Mercedes have sent a special invite to all the BMW workforce to visit the Mercedes' museum from 8th March to 13th March 2016. As a part of the special treatment, the BMW employees will be allowed to park their cars in front of the museum without any charge, where the first 50 employees will get the chance to enjoy the "Swabian Specialty".
Porsche too take the opportunity to wish BMW for spending a complete century serving the world with its super luxury machines. The ad released by Porsche on BMW's 100th birthday with images of BMW i8 and Porsche Mission E electric supercars, reads:
"The future presents us with great challenges. We face them with sheer driving pleasure. Porsche bows to 100 years of moving automobile history and wholeheartedly congratulates BMW on this jubilee."
This fierce rivalry is not a year or two old, in fact, it exists since decades, still none of the German automobile manufacturers have forgotten their manner or sportsman spirit, thus depicting their class.
Another example of such classy rivalry exists in the year 2009, when Audi challenged BMW by featuring its new A4 on a billboard in a high traffic area of Santa Monica and asking – 'Your Move, BMW". To this, BMW came out with a much better jab and better to say it literally nailed Audi by placing a bigger billboard adjacent to Audi's highlighting the monstrous M3 with just a single yet heaviest word – CHECKMATE.
Well this sort of sophisticated competition will keep on going among these major automobile players, so let's celebrate the platinum jubilee of BMW with the spices added by its sheer rivals.
