Volvo has already spiced up the competition in the luxury car segment by releasing cars that don’t compromise on quality, comfort, power and performance but are affordable as compared to the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, et al. Well, a good piece of news for the Volvo lovers as the Swedish marque has launched its S60 Polestar trickery in India at a price point of Rs. Rs. 52.5 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the first ever Volvo developed by Polestar to be sold in the Indian luxury car market.
For the novice, Polestar is the company’s in-house tuning division that has mastered in giving the Volvo wagons a whole new exciting touch. Or to be precise, treat the Polestar division of Volvo in the same manner you treat AMG for Mercedes-Benz and M for BMW. Hence, the time will tell how well the Swedish baby fare against the German-dominated market.
Carrying most of the underpinnings from its elder sibling, Volvo S60 T6 (standard version of sedan), the Polestar variant has also witnessed many cosmetic changes to get a completely different appearance. Powering the beast is a 2.0-litre petrol motor that delivers a maximum power and torque of 367PS and 467Nm, respectively, which means that the power and torque are 61PS and 67Nm higher than the standard variant of S60.
To make sure the proper utilization of the available grunt for propulsion, the company has maintained a balanced power-to-tarmac equation through its AWD (all-wheel-drive) technology. All this effort pays off pretty well in the acceleration of 0-100Kmph in mere 4.7 seconds before reaching a top-notch speed of 250 Kmph.
As far as the safety aspects of the Volvo car is concerned, don’t be in the misconception that this optimization has killed or lowered that aspect. Volvo has always taken care of this aspect and Polestar S60 is not an exception. The standard Volvo safety features such as ABS and airbags, etc. are there in the sedan along with sensors all around the body to detect the nearby obstructions and apply brakes automatically. This safety feature works even when you are traveling at a speed of up to 50Kmph.
The recently launched Volvo Polestar S60 will complete against the likes of Audi S5, BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C43. Pricing the Polestar S60 at an extremely competitive price, the Swedish carmaker has also shaken the market by announcing a hike of 2.5% in the ex-showroom prices of all its products in India. This increase is the result of the hike in the input costs, which ultimately lead to the increase in the overall prices of the vehicles.
