Jaguar Promotes ‘Make-in-India Concept with its Locally Manufactured XF; Prices Start at Rs. 47.50 Lakh

Seems like the British luxury carmaker is pretty much impressed with our PM Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative and that’s why the marque has launched thesecond generation of XF sedan, which has been manufactured locally. This has resulted to bring down the price to Rs. 47.50 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which earlier was Rs. 49.50 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) when the all new Jaguar XF was launched in India last year.

Owned by Tata Motors, the local manufacturing of Jaguar XF has helped the automaker to slash the prices by Rs. 2 lakh. The prices of higher variants (diesel) go up to Rs. 60.50 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), whereas the petrol versions now starts Rs. 3 lakh cheaper at Rs. 52.50 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and extended up to Rs. 59.50 Lakh.

Jaguar Land Rover has already started taking bookings at the 24 authorized retailers of Land Rover for its locally manufactured XF diesel from today and making the booking process easier, the company has allowed the interested buyers to make online booking via its official portal.

In India, the Jaguar XF is available in three variants with both the engine options (petrol and diesel), namely – Pure, Portfolio and Prestige. For the petrol engine, the mechanical specs remain the same at 4-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged motor linked to an 8-speed automatic tranny and producing a power of237BHP along with 340Nm of torque and carrying a displacement capacity of 1,999cc. Coming to the diesel version, the 1,999cc 2.0-litre Ingenium engine in sync with an 8-speed automatic gearbox churns out a power and torque of 177BHP and 430Nm, respectively.

The home-made luxury sedan is endowed with a slew of advanced features, which include a fully TFT 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a touchscreen infotainment system of 10.2-inch supporting InControl Touch Pro, and an acoustic experience delivering Meridian Sound System . Other advanced features and technologies include 4-zone climate control system, 10-color ambient lighting and a bunch of connectivity choices wherein you can connect your smartphone to on and off the engine or to control the AC and so on.

The company this time has made the new generation lighter as compared to the previous generation of XF by shunning the weight by up to 190Kgs. Talking about the dimensions of the beast, the all-new XF has a broader wheelbase by 51mm, giving credit to the new platform, whereas it is 3mm lower and 7mm shorter than its precursor. Due to this, the drag coefficient has been trimmed down to 0.26 from 0.29.

Commenting on the launch, Rohit Suri, the Managing Director and President of JLR India, said, “Since its introduction in 2009, Jaguar XF has gained immense popularity and success in the country. The introduction of the all-new Jaguar XF into our locally manufactured portfolio reiterates our commitment to the Indian market.”

Other offerings of this British marque in India include the imported F-TYPE that costs Rs. 1.25 crore, F-PACE at Rs. 68.40 lakh and the locally manufactured XJ and XE at Rs. 99.99 lakh and Rs. 39.90 lakh, respectively. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
