The highly awaited Diesel version of the Jaguar XE beast has finally made it to the country at an affordable price of Rs. 38.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant. The three variants available in the diesel option include Pure, Prestige and Portfolio. The company has quoted the price of the diesel mill Rs. 1 lakh higher than the petrol one, which is costing Rs. 37.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This launch took more than a year's time!
Talking about the engine specs, the new diesel sedan in the XE portfolio is energized by a 2.0-litre Ingenium mill mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which churns out a maximum power of 180PS along with a peak torque of 430Nm. This is the same engine that is powering its elder siblings – Jaguar F-Pace SUV and the mighty XF. Earlier the XE models were only available in petrol options hence the customers interested in buying the diesel variant were falling short of options.
As far as the features are concerned, the diesel XE shares the same list as that of its petrol sibling. Some of the features that might interest you include 8-inch infotainment system with touchscreen and navigation, electrically adjustable front seats (10 ways), surround camera system, sliding panoramic sunroof and Meridian Sound System of 380W.
Currently there are 24 authorized showrooms of Jaguar in the country and the company has already started taking bookings for the diesel variants of XE a week ago. You can book your Jaguar XE by making an initial payment of Rs. 2 lakh.
In terms of competition, the recently launched Jaguar XE diesel will compete against the likes of Volvo S60, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3-Series. However, if we talk about the affordability of the sedan in comparison to its competitors, then it grabs the third place after Volvo S60 whose base price is Rs. 35.16 followed by BMW 3 Series that is available for Rs. 37.50 lakh. Whereas, Mercedes-Benz C-Class comes at a price of Rs. 39.97 lakh and Audi A4 is priced at Rs. 40.2 lakh in India.
