The 28th April is only a few months ago but the bells have started ringing from today. Confused? We are talking about the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the most ostentatious brand, and his birthday special.
The company was about to unveil its Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 limited edition on the 8th of March 2016 at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show to mark the birth anniversary of its founder, and thus the name Centenario was given, which is derived from 'Century'.
A recently leaked video announcement on YouTube showed the glimpse of the car that was expected at the motor show. Though the video was taken down moments later, the car enthusiasts who are always hunting for such leaks didn't let us down. In fact, the official page too shows "Page not found" status.
Bestowed with aggressive looks and powerpacked performance, Lamborghini Centenario is a special edition supercar that with its angular style seems to be a cross breed of the Lamborghini Aventador and the new Ford GT. However, as compared to its older siblings, Centenario is less straight-edged and angular, thus nominating itself as the next style icon of the automobile industry.
Being the limited edition, the company will manufacture on 40 units of Centenario out of which 20 will be coupes and the other halves will be convertibles. With completely redesigned body, the new Lambo will share the foundation with Aventador V12 sportscar in the same manner of Sesto Elemento to Gallardo.
Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini CEO, has confirmed that the new hypercar in the stable will not share the platform with that of Huracan, so it will be better to call it a re-trimmed Aventador blessed with V-12 powertrain with features such as all-wheel drive.
Sticking true to its name – LP770-4 – the 6.5-litre V12 petrol engine of Lamborghini Centenario is expected to churn out a maximum power of 770hp, where the "4" indicates all 4-wheeldrive.
The engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch tranny and is capable enough to attain a top speed of 350Kmph and 300Kmph in just 23.5 seconds. With the help of paddle shifters, you can accelerate this raging bull to 100Kmph from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds.
Appealing more to eyes will be the vehicle's rear wings that will extend when this sexy beauty will attain such a ridiculous speed to provide more stability and downforce.
For the complete spec list we have to wait till the time Lamborghini unveils this super limited edition at the upcoming motor show in Switzerland.
