Jaguar is all set to launch its facelift variant of Jaguar XF, shortly. This launch is coming close on the heels of the earlier Jaguar XE model launched during the 2016 Auto India show. The British carmaker is strengthening its mid and upper mid range portfolio so that it can effectively compete against its main rivals BMW, Audi and Mercedes. In the 2016 Auto Show India, Jaguar has divulged its plan to launch three cars in the Indian market that includes Jaguar XE, Jaguar XF and F-Pace SUV.
According to the reliable sources, the upcoming Jaguar XF premium sedan is likely to be rolled out in the month of August 2016 and is believed to be based on a completely new platform. Informed sources tell us that the designers of this new model are making extensive use of Aluminium to keep the weight of this car down to significantly improve its performance compared to its earlier Avatar. It is also believed to be a bit longer and having a wider wheelbase, which will markedly improve its cabin space. The leaked images are hinting towards a few design tweaks in the car to make it more appealing to eyes.
These tweaks include a redesigned head and tail lamp cluster. The front bumper is now a bit wider and accommodates a bigger air dam and air vents than what was present in the earlier model. Company sources have revealed that the length of this car will be 5067mm with an extended wheelbase of 2960mm. The overall weight of this car will be around 1687Kgs, which is significantly less than the earlier model. The new improved look of Jaguar XF is sharper with rounded edges that makes it appear more elegant.
As you look inside, you will find several changes made inside the passenger cabin to improve its upmarket feel even further. The changes that will catch your eyes will be the reworked dashboard housing a bigger 10.2 inches infotainment touchscreen for the top-end trim. However, we believe the base-level trim will have to do with the same 8.0 inches touchscreen that is present in the current model. According to company sources, the new Jaguar XF model will be available in both diesel and petrol options.
While the diesel variant will be powered by a 2.0-litre power mill with four cylinders that can produce a maximum power of 177hp resulting in a crushing torque of 430Nm, the petrol XF, on the other hand, will be blessed with a 2.0-litre engine with four cylinder configuration and a turbocharger leading it to produce a maximum power of 236hp and a maximum torque of 240Nm. It is believed that both the petrol and diesel engines will be mated to an automatic ZF sourced 8-speed transmission gearbox.
When launched, the 2016 Jaguar XF will compete against the likes of BMW 5 series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6 and its ex-showroom price will be Rs. 50 lakh. The third model that was showcased at the Auto Expo, Jaguar F-Pace, the only SUV by Jaguar, will make appearance either in late 2016 or early 2017.
